What is Asbestos?
Asbestos is a naturally occurring fibrous material. It is often mixed with other materials so it can sometimes be difficult to know if you have asbestos or not. Asbestos can be found in many building products from roof sheets to pipe insulation and floor tiles.
Where can you find Asbestos?
Anyone planning to work on a building built prior to 2000 may be in danger of being exposed to asbestos fibres. An asbestos survey should be carried out prior to the works in order to ensure all asbestos containing materials have been identified.
There are 3 main types of asbestos- Chrysotile (White), Amosite (Brown) and Crocidolite (Blue).

While asbestos may have been used in the past, today however, there is now a ban on the use and manufacturing of asbestos products due to its direct links with serious health problems.
